Kate Otto; KCA College Director
The Executive Board of Regional Leaders
The KCA College Program grew immensely over the 2007 – 2008 school
year, from roughly 50 to well over 200 Chapters around the world.
Realizing we would need a stronger student leadership
infrastructure, KCA instituted an Executive Board of Regional
Leaders; hand-selected students who had already proven their
enormous talents in activism and fundraising. We are so
appreciative of their tireless work to build our student
constituency up and out, and hope you take inspiration from their
vision! Current Regional Leaders will serve through June 2009. If
you are interested in becoming a Regional Leader, please contact

Carmella Christensen: Mid-Atlantic (NJ, DE, MD)
Montclair State University: Class of 2010: Psychology
"I feel that the fight to eradicate AIDS is our generation's
challenge. We can show the world that AIDS is not stronger than we
are. Compassion and determination of the human spirit will win this
fight."

Melissa Furtado: New England (ME, NH, VT, RI, CT, MA)
Johnson &Wales University: Class of 2009: Culinary
Nutrition
“My vision to ending AIDS is by using my voice to spread awareness
to this pandemic, using my passion for my love for what KCA stands
for to raise funds and using prayer for hope and continuous faith
in people to keep on caring for one another. I believe that people
care for each other and if all of us just helped a little never
mind helping as much as we could all the devastation caused by AIDS
doesn’t have to exist, its just craziness!”

Joyce Gaylor: South-Atlantic (VA, NC, SC, GA, FL)
Virginia Tech: Class of 2010: Wildlife Science & Biology
“I think AIDS is something that can be beat, if we as people come
together with a sense of Love without Borders. So many people today
are blinded by their sense of Home, their sense of well-being,
while not realizing that AIDS doesn’t care about where you’re from,
how much money you have, or the color of your skin. So together we
need to come to the realization that everywhere is our home, and
that AIDS needs to end because its affecting the well-being of OUR
HOME! With KCA we CAN do that.”

Billy Gonyou: Mid-Atlantic (NY, PA, DC)
St. Joseph’s College: Class of 2010: English, Religious Studies and
Peace & Justice Studies
“My vision is simple; I want AIDS removed from this planet. My
generation is the generation of change. We are the ones destined to
change this world and we are going to do so. I may not have the
ability to develop a cure, but I do have the power to motivate and
inspire thousands of people to stand and fight with me. Before
anything can happen, we need to develop an army and get the entire
world on our side. AIDS needs to end and we need to pave the way
for the end to come.”

Tiffany Johnson: Mid-West (MO, KS, NE, ND, SD, MN, IA)
Washington University in St. Louis: Class of 2010: Anthropology and
African and African-American Studies
“My vision for ending AIDS is that people will stop being
complacent with death and injustice and continue to mobilize to
find an affordable and efficient cure.”

Mindy Le: South-West (TX, NM, AZ, CO, UT, NV, OK)
University of Houston: Class of 2010: Business
Marketing/Pre-Med
“KCA is making an impact within the world by putting young student
leaders upon the pedestal to help end the fight against AIDS. I
believe that each and every one of us is equipped with a power in
which we must make use of and put to action. We should think of a
way of how we can help give back to our community by using the
major talents that we have. We are now at the future leaders of
tomorrow, but why wait for tomorrow when we can do something
NOW?”

Jennifer Mejia: Great Lakes (WI, IL, MI, IN, OH)
Northern Illinois University: Class of 2010: Math Education
“My vision to end the AIDS pandemic is to keep spreading the word
about this devastating virus and its magnitude and to motivate
people to take action. KCA does that and so by spreading the word
of KCA we can not only educate people about AIDS, but also help
keep children alive by providing the medications and care necessary
to those in need.”

Dita Patel: United Kingdom
Queen Mary, University of London (Alum), 2005: Aerospace
Engineering
“As the great Mahatma Gandhi once said ‘Be the change you want to
see in the world’.’ I know we can do this by supporting the
incredible work of Keep a Child Alive, and ending the AIDS
pandemic.”

Jessica Rebeiro: Canada
Queens University: Class of 2010: Life Sciences
“My vision for ending AIDS involves us – as youth and human beings
– refusing to stand by as the world fails to help. My vision is
that we will have the courage and determination to make others so
informed about this issue that we will all be unified in the fight
against AIDS. My vision is that we will care enough to ensure that
AIDS is a disease spoken of in the past tense rather than the
present.”

Jade Wagner: Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, CA, ID, MT, WY, AK,
HI)
Hilltop High School: Class of 2010
"Any one person can make a difference, so I though by starting a
club on campus that focused on raising awareness on such a serious
topic such as HIV/AIDS and how it affects people around the world I
knew that we could change at least one person's life. Through
information booths, movies and events that raised money for KCA,
while spreading awareness, is only the beginning of what we can
accomplish."

Tiffany Walls: South (AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, WV)
Arkansas State University: Class of 2009: Radio/ TV and Broadcast
Journalism
“My vision for ending AIDS is to continue to use my VOICE and let
the people know about Keep A Child Alive and how easy it is to save
a life. I want to inspire people to be better than what they were
yesterday. I will continue to have events around campus to raise
money and awareness of the AIDS pandemic in Africa and also here. I
will continue to drill this mission of “ONE dollar a day, saves a
LIFE.” I will not stop until AIDS stops!”
